Abstract: The present invention relates to a physically coupled audit-recording system for recording operations performed by artificial intelligence agents. The system comprises a finite array of bistable electro-optical recording elements, a secure element, an optical sensing circuit, and a controller. For each operation, an event digest is generated and a particular unwritten recording element is deterministically selected based on the current cryptographic chain state and the event digest. The selected element is physically switched, and an optical switching transient is measured to obtain element-specific physical response features. A fuzzy extraction process derives a stable physical symbol from the measured response. A successor cryptographic chain state is generated using the event digest, the physical symbol, and the recording sequence. The recording operation is committed only after successful optical verification. Physical exhaustion establishes a hardware-enforced recording limit, while reset-induced changes in static optical signatures provide evidence of reinitialization or erasure. The system thereby binds digital audit records to irreversible physical events and enables independent physical verification.
