Abstract: ABSTRACT A system (100) for photovoltaic-based electric vehicle (EV) topology is disclosed. The system (100) includes a data collection unit (130) configured to collect real-time illumination data from an illumination sensor (140) of an electric vehicle (110). The system (100) includes a processing unit (150) coupled with the data collection unit (130). The processing unit (150) is configured to analyze collected illumination data to establish a correlation between illumination and solar irradiation. The processing unit (150) is also configured to estimate solar irradiation as a function of illumination based on established correlation. The processing unit (150) is further configured to identify initial power points for a photovoltaic module (120) based on estimated solar irradiation. The illumination sensor (140) is adapted to be shared with ambient and directional light sensors of the electric vehicle.
