MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641110296 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 14, 2026, for System And Method For Ontology-Aware Semantic Delta Versioning And Subjective-Logic Based Provenance Integrity Verification Of Medical Imaging Data.

Inventors include Bhawana Tyagi; and Parth Ranjan Mishra.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer-implemented medical imaging version-control system for efficiently managing collaboratively modified imaging objects. An immutable pixel payload is decoupled from associated metadata, and metadata attributes are classified to identify clinically meaningful modifications. Only clinically meaningful changes are stored as semantic deltas while system-generated or non-clinically relevant changes are excluded, thereby reducing redundant full- copy storage. The semantic deltas are linked through a provenance knowledge graph that records relationships among imaging versions, human users, artificial intelligence services, and processing events. Cryptographically signed and hash-chained lineage evidence is evaluated to generate trust information, including propagated uncertainty across ancestral versions. The trust information is combined with semantic consistency, reconstruction performance, audit coverage, and storage efficiency to generate a composite integrity index. If cryptographic verification fails within an ancestral lineage, the corresponding imaging version is blocked from being served to downstream clinical systems.
