Abstract: A method (200) for monitoring an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) unit operatively coupled to a surgical robotic platform is disclosed. The method (200) comprises initiating a monitoring cycle responsive to a periodic trigger signal generated at a predefined interval. A communication status associated with the UPS unit is validated prior to each monitoring cycle. Upon determination of a valid communication status, a data acquisition cycle is initiated to acquire a plurality of operational parameters associated with the UPS unit. Upon determination of an invalid communication status, the data acquisition cycle is suppressed, and a communication-loss indication is output to a communication loss event tier. The method (200) further comprises classifying at least one power event into a plurality of event tiers, maintaining event state variables corresponding to respective event tiers, and delivering event notifications through a user interface integrated within a graphical user interface of the surgical robotic platform.
