Abstract: System and Method for Monitoring Failures in Multimodal Intelligent Systems Using Representation-Level Failure Sensitivity The present invention relates to a system and method for monitoring failures in multimodal intelligent systems using representation-level failure sensitivity (RLFS). The invention generates a fused internal representation from multimodal inputs and continuously monitors stability and representation-level integrity of the fused representation during runtime operation. A representation-level failure sensitivity module determines instability, degradation, or inconsistency in the fused internal representation caused due to partial modality degradation, disturbance, corruption, or noise. Based on the determined RLFS, a sensitivity-aware adaptive degradation mechanism dynamically modifies operational behavior of the system to maintain controlled and reliable operation. The system selectively maintains normal operation, initiates degraded operation, or triggers rejection operation according to predetermined or learned sensitivity thresholds. The invention enables graceful degradation and controlled continuation of operation under partial modality impairment while preventing abrupt system failure. The proposed framework is applicable to multimodal authentication, intelligent sensing, and adaptive decision-support systems.
