MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511022352 A) filed by Chairman, Defence Research & Development Organisation Drdo on March 12, 2025, for System And Method For Monitoring An Area Of Interest.

Inventors include Tm, Dhipu; Dr. Rajesh, R; Kumar, Amresh; Dr. Venkatesh, Sk; and Dr. Menon, K Rajalakshmi.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: A system for monitoring an area of interest includes memory (204), and processor (202) communicatively coupled with the memory (204). Processor (202) receives first stream (112) of visible (VIS) spectrum and second stream (114) of infra-red (IR) spectrum from optical sensing system (104), and processes the received first and second streams (112, 114) to provide first enhanced stream (112') of VIS spectrum and second enhanced stream (114') of IR spectrum. Further, processor (202) fuses the first and second enhanced streams (112',114') to create unified spectral stream (302) using predetermined deep learning neural network models. Further, processor (202) detects predetermined objects from first enhanced stream (112') using AI model. Furthermore, processor (202) monitors the area of interest (110) by generating output stream (116) based on the unified spectral stream (302) and detection of the predetermined objects. The output stream (116) indicates visual and thermal characteristics associated with detected predetermined objects.
