Abstract: ABSTRACT [0037] A system and method are proposed for coating a medical titanium surface with a metal oxide nanocomposite which includes nanodomains of zinc oxide in a matrix of titanium oxide. Manufacturing architecture involves preparation of substrates, control of formulation, metered deposition, consolidation, conditioning, inspection and disposition of batches by documentation. A controller logs important process info and retains affected batches as necessary. The main embodiment is fixation components and needs antibacterial performance under situations without external illumination. The proposed validation includes surface characterization, mechanical integrity, dissolved and particulate release, bacterial recovery, biological evaluation, sterilization compatibility and ageing. Technical context was provided by published research and patent disclosures, but they do not demonstrate performance of the proposed system. The design challenge is to control the antibacterial activity, host exposure and coating durability simultaneously. The paper is a description of an engineering concept found in literature, along with a proposed evaluation framework, but not experimental results, proven clinical value or patent originality.
