MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089328 A) filed by Delhi Technological University on July 22, 2026, for System And Method For Managing Power Flow In A Hybrid Energy Storage System.
Inventors include Kumar, Mayank; and Kumar, Nishant.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system (100) for managing power flow in a hybrid energy storage system is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a solar photovoltaic (SPV) source (102) configured to generate electrical power from solar energy, and a four-port DC–DC converter (104) operatively connected to the SPV source (102), a load (106-1), a battery (106-2), and a supercapacitor (106-3). The converter (104) is configured to regulate and direct power flow among all ports through a common-ground topology, enabling reduced conversion stages and compact design. The battery (106-2) is configured to store energy and operate in buck and boost modes, while the supercapacitor (106-3) provides transient power support and absorbs excess energy. A plurality of semiconductor switches controls bidirectional power transfer. The system operates across multiple states to ensure coordinated power sharing, improved efficiency, enhanced reliability, and reduced stress on the battery (106-2) under dynamic conditions.
