Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system (120, 140) and a method (500, 600) for managing messaging services and messaging rate limit in a distributed network environment. The method comprises assigning a first rate limiting instance and one or more second rate limiting instances included in a rate limiting system (140) corresponding to a messaging account provisioned by a messaging system (120). Establishment of a connection is initiated with the plurality of rate limiting instances (142). Upon establishment of the connection, information corresponding to rate limits is transmitted to the rate limiting instances. Further, a request from a source device of a plurality of devices (110) is received for sending a message to target devices and the transmitted to one of the first rate limiting instance or the one or more second rate limiting instances.
