MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611080061 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Jammu on June 29, 2026, for System And Method For Managing Hvac In A Building Management System.

Inventors include Banotra, Atul; Modem, Sudhakar; Salaria, Anirudh; and Padder, Shahid Gulzar.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: A system (400) and a method (800) for managing a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment (406) in a Building Management System (BMS) are disclosed. The system (400) receives environmental parameters from sensors (404) positioned within the HVAC equipment, the environmental parameters comprising temperature and humidity associated with Air Handling Units. The system processes the received environmental parameters through a configurable Analog Input ports and Digital Input ports for a signal conditioning and analog-to-digital conversion. The system applies an auto-tuned Proportional Integral Derivative to the processed environmental parameters to dynamically adjust control gains based on changing thermal loads, occupancy profiles, and system feedback. The system performs a chiller-plant-level optimization by managing a chiller sequencing, differential temperature and differential pressure tracking, and condenser lift reduction to minimize energy consumption and Coefficient of Performance. The system generates control signal through configurable Analog Output ports and Digital Output ports to regulate HVAC equipment.
