Abstract: This invention is a system and method for optimizing energy consumption in a smart building using machine learning. The system collects data on energy usage, temperature, humidity, occupancy, equipment status, weather conditions, and electricity tariffs, then processes this data to determine the building's energy needs and the optimum operating conditions for connected electrical equipment. A machine learning engine, preferably based on reinforcement learning, selects control actions that weigh energy consumption against occupant comfort. These control actions can be applied to HVAC systems, electric vehicle charging stations, pumps, motors, and other controllable electrical equipment. After each control action is applied, the system monitors the resulting energy use and operating conditions and feeds these results back to the machine learning engine, which updates the control policy over time. As a result, the system adapts to changes in occupancy, weather, and equipment performance instead of relying on a fixed schedule or a static set of rules. The invention provides an adaptive way to reduce energy consumption and operating costs while maintaining the comfort and operating conditions the building requires.
