The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a localization system for localizing a mobile robot. The localization system includes a processor configured to obtain and store a plurality of correspondence points each associating a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) position with a corresponding Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) map-frame position based on GNSS and LiDAR localization quality criteria. The processor generates a non-linear transformation between a GNSS coordinate frame and a LiDAR map frame using Thin Plate Spline (TPS) Radial Basis Function (RBF) interpolation having an automatically determined smoothing parameter. The processor transforms a GNSS-derived position into the LiDAR map frame, determines confidence measures associated with GNSS-derived and LiDAR-derived positions, maintains a tracked output pose, and generates a unified output pose according to the confidence measures and a motion consistency criterion. The processor outputs the unified output pose for localization of the mobile robot. FIG. 1
