Abstract: ABSTRACT System and Method for Intelligent Drone-Based FSM Deployment and Retrieval Using Localization and Visual Servoing The present disclosure pertains to an apparatus and technique for intelligent closed-loop adaptive deployment and recovery of Field Sensor Modules (FSM) by utilizing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The apparatus consists of a hybrid localization approach that leverages GPS-guided macro-navigation along with depth camera–powered micro-localization and visual servoing, resulting in sub-centimeter accurate alignment during both the deployment and recovery processes. In addition, the UAV employs an adaptive gripper with force feedback capability for effective engagement with FSMs across diverse terrains. Moreover, the AI/ML- driven decision-making component facilitates optimal sensor positioning, dynamic mission assignment, and predictive recovery scheduling based on environmental parameters. The FSM gathers multidimensional soil and environmental data and establishes two- way communication with the UAV and a distant processing unit via a network channel. FIG.1
