Abstract: The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical blister packaging system featuring a time-responsive visual expiry indicator for automatic identification of medicine expiry status. The system comprises a blister base sheet with multiple medicated tablet cavities and at least one separate indicator cavity, structurally isolated from the medicated cavities. This indicator cavity contains microcapsules with a core-shell structure, encapsulating a leuco dye developer-solvent composition—such as crystal violet lactone or spironolactone-type dyes— within polymeric shell. These microcapsules are fixed in place using a biocompatible, chemically inert, and optically transparent adhesive layer. The shell's thickness and permeability are precisely calibrated to produce a controlled, time-dependent, and typically irreversible color change aligned with the product's shelf life. Kept physically separate from the medication itself, the indicator ensures pharmaceutical safety and regulatory compliance. The system integrates seamlessly with existing thermoforming and heat-sealing processes, offering a clear visual cue that reduces dependence on printed expiry dates.
