The system (100) comprises a sensitivity- policy engine configured to generate a sensitivity score for a retrieval request, a peripheral authentication device, a phase-change material cartridge configured to undergo a phase transition upon receipt of thermal energy, a thermal sensing element configured to detect a thermal signature, an optical sensing element configured to detect an optical signature, a controller configured to validate a melt event based on the thermal and optical signatures, a secure element configured to generate a cryptographic attestation associated with the melt event, a communication interface configured to transmit the cryptographic attestation to a host subsystem, a verification module configured to verify the cryptographic attestation, and a key-release manager configured to release a decryption key responsive to successful verification. The invention further relates to a corresponding method for human-presence verified access control.
