MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641113475 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on September 22, 2026, for System And Method For Hazard Detection And Evacuation.

Inventors include S Deepan Sai; Aditya Maurya; Mayank; C. U. Om Kumar; and Sudhakaran G.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: A hazard detection and evacuation system (100) includes a plurality of sensors (102) to generate environmental data associated with a monitored environment and a controller (104) communicatively coupled to the sensors (102). Controller (104) includes one or more processors (104A) and a memory (104B) storing instructions that cause controller (104) to process environmental data to identify hazard conditions, generate a dynamic hazard representation, and determine reliability information. Controller (104) also generates predictive hazard information, determines occupant-related information, and computes individualized evacuation routes. Based on computed routes and changing environmental conditions, controller (104) generates and dynamically modifies coordinated navigation guidance for occupants and emergency responders. Controller (104) further identifies occupants requiring assistance, generates rescue prioritization, situational awareness, and emergency assistance information, and maintains coordinated navigation guidance under degraded operating conditions through localized decision-making using processed environmental data and dynamic hazard representation to facilitate reliable, adaptive, and real-time emergency evacuation and response.
