Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HANDLING MULTI-LAYERED PLASTIC WASTE IN REVERSE VENDING MACHINES The instant invention pertains to a system and method for processing multi-layered plastic (MLP) waste in reverse vending systems. The system includes an inlet chute arranged to accommodate the waste item, a material classification unit arranged to classify the waste item as falling under multi-layered plastic, a control unit arranged to analyze such classification, a guiding unit arranged to guide the classified waste item, a vertical screw conveying unit including a cylindrical container and a rotatable helical screw, a motor-driven unit arranged to rotate the spiral screw, and a separate MLP waste storage bin arranged to receive the MLP waste. After classification of the MLP waste, the control unit actuates the motor-driven unit such that the MLP waste is conveyed in a spiral manner along the tubular container. The invention provides an effective means for conveyance, segregation, monitoring, and storage of lightweight flexible plastic waste. Fig. 3
