MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541099323 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Madras Iit Madras on October 14, 2025, for System And Method For Generating Digital Autofluorescence Images From Standard White Light Images.
Inventors include Unni, Sujatha Narayanan; and Bajhaiya, Deepak.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed are a system (100) and a method (300) for generating digital Autofluorescence (AF) images from standard White Light (WL) images. The method includes performing, by an image preprocessing module (112), one or more image preprocessing operations on a WL image. The method further includes using a segmentation module (114) to generate a polyp mask for outlining a segmented area in the preprocessed WL image, and deriving an inverse mask by subtracting the polyp mask from 1 to identify a background area. Furthermore, the method includes correcting, by an illumination correction module (116), uneven illumination in the segmented area and the background area by performing one or more correction operations on the preprocessed WL image to generate an illumination corrected WL image. Thereafter, the method includes performing, by a conversion module (118), one or more conversion operations to convert the illumination corrected WL image into the AF image.
