Abstract: A garment lifecycle tracking and recycling system (100) and method (200) are disclosed. A machine-readable tag (110) affixed to a garment (10) stores a garment identifier and a fibre-composition datum. A reader device (120) reads the tag and a server (130) maintains a lifecycle record keyed to the identifier in a database (140), updating it through use, collection and recycling. Upon a disposal signal, the server determines a recycling stream from the fibre-composition datum and issues, through a recycler integration interface (160), a routing instruction that routes the garment to the determined stream of a recycler network (170) and schedules collection. An engagement module (150) may record engagement events and issue a reward on recycling. The system routes individual post-consumer garments to fibre-appropriate recycling and traces them from use to recycling.
