The method (400) further includes dilating (406) the plurality of images to enhance the detected edges and determining (408) a variance of the dilated plurality of images. The variance in dilated images indicates formation of fog on the windshield (104). Furthermore, the method (400) includes actuating (410) a defogger (110) based on the variance to defog the windshield (104).
