MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641089356 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on July 22, 2026, for System And Method For Fault Detection And Classification In A Multilevel Inverter.

Inventors include Niraj Kumar Dewangan; Jeevan N D; and Kasinath Jena.

The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a system (100) and method (200) for fault detection and classification in a multilevel inverter. The system (100) may include a count cross-connected-source multilevel inverter (CCS-MLI) (102), a sensing unit (104), a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) unit (106), a fuzzy logic processing unit (108), and a fault classification unit (110). The count cross-connected-source multilevel inverter (CCS-MLI) (102) is configured to generate an output voltage and an output current for supplying power to a load (120). The fuzzy logic processing unit (108) includes a fuzzifier (108-1), an inference unit (108-2) having a rule base (122), and a defuzzifier (108-3). The fault classification unit (110) is configured to classify the fault condition into one of a plurality of predefined fault classes corresponding to faulty switching devices. The system (100) is configured to identify and classify open-circuit faults in the multilevel inverter (102) in real time.
