MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411093549 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on November 29, 2024, for System And Method For Fabricating Honeycomb Micro-Textures.

Inventors include Dr. Swastik Pradhan; and Dr. Rahul Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for fabricating honeycomb micro-textures using femtosecond laser ablation, including selecting a material capable of absorbing femtosecond laser energy. In some embodiments, the material may be selected from the group consisting of metals, including but not limited to titanium, stainless steel, and copper, for their mechanical robustness and conductivity. Embodiments may also include polymers, such as PMMA, polyethylene, and SU-8, for their versatility and ease of processing. Embodiments may also include semiconductors, including silicon and glass, for optical or microelectronic applications. Embodiments may also include ceramics and composite materials, selected based on application-specific requirements. Embodiments may also include configuring a femtosecond laser system (200) with optimized parameters, including pulse duration ranging from 50 femtoseconds to 500 femtoseconds to minimize heat diffusion and ensure precision.
