MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621094377 A) filed by Mrs. Poonam Swapnil Jadhav; Dr. Sarika Nitin Zaware; and Department Of Computer Engineering, All India Shri Shivaji Memorial on August 04, 2026, for System And Method For Explainable Textual Misinformation Identification On Social Media Platform.
Inventors include Mrs. Poonam Swapnil Jadhav; and Dr. Sarika Nitin Zaware.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EXPLAINABLE TEXTUAL MISINFORMATION IDENTIFICATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM A system (100) and method (200) for explainable textual misinformation or disinformation identification on social media platform are disclosed. The system (100) comprises a data ingestion module (102) configured to collect textual rumours and comments data, a natural language processing (NLP) pre-processing engine (104) configured to standardize the data, a multi-dimensional feature extraction module (106) configured to generate semantic and contextual feature representations, and a nature-inspired feature selection engine (108) configured to identify an optimal subset of highly discriminative text features (110). A hybrid feature fusion and deep learning classification engine (112) classifies the optimized features to generate a real-time probabilistic veracity output (114). An explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) engine (116) interprets the classification by generating a human-interpretable validation report (118) identifying textual segments influencing the classification outcome. The invention improves misinformation or disinformation identification accuracy while enhancing transparency, interpretability, and user confidence in automated decision-making. FIG. 1 will be the reference figure.
