Abstract: A confidential document processing system (100) and method are disclosed for delivering printable content of a confidential document to an authorized output device (110) without assembling a complete plaintext representation of the document at any stage of authorized processing. The system (100) comprises a protected document repository (102) maintaining encrypted content units and layout metadata, a reconstruction controller (104) determining successive rendering segments on demand, a transient rendering environment (106) reconstructing each rendering segment exclusively within volatile memory, a streaming controller (108) transferring each rendering segment directly to the authorized output device (110) through an authenticated channel (116) without persistent intermediary storage, a lifecycle controller (112) performing secure erasure of each rendering segment prior to reconstruction of a subsequent segment, and a state management module (114) enforcing permissible document processing state transitions throughout the rendering lifecycle. The system eliminates the formation of a complete plaintext document at any processing stage, thereby reducing the risk of unauthorized disclosure.
