Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENHANCING SEISMIC PERFORMANCE OF BAMBOO-REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS The invention relates to a system and method for improving the seismic performance of bamboo-reinforced concrete beams. The disclosed system integrates bamboo reinforcement treated with chemical coatings and protective layers to resist moisture absorption, biological degradation, and dimensional instability. A modular workflow is introduced, comprising bamboo preparation, beam casting, anchorage, and seismic evaluation. The anchorage system employs mechanical fasteners and hybrid reinforcement techniques to ensure effective load transfer between bamboo and concrete under cyclic loading. Seismic simulation is conducted using hydraulic actuators and sensors to replicate earthquake-induced stresses, including tension-compression cycles, shear forces, and torsional effects. Performance metrics such as load-bearing capacity, displacement ductility, hysteresis behavior, and residual strength are recorded to validate structural integrity. Novelty lies in combining sustainable bamboo reinforcement with standardized seismic testing protocols, thereby bridging ecological responsibility with structural safety. The invention provides a cost-effective alternative to steel reinforcement, reduces carbon footprint, and enables reliable construction in resource-constrained regions prone to earthquakes.
