MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641057094 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on May 05, 2026, for System And Method For Energy-Efficient And Priority-Aware Communication In A Sensor Network.

Inventors include Manoj Tolani; Nasser S. Albalawi; Pankaj Kumar; Rajeev Kumar; Yazeed Alzahrani; Himanshu Chaudhary; and Nikita Goel.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a system (100) and method (300) for energy-efficient and priority-aware communication in a sensor network. The system (100) includes a plurality of sensor nodes (SNs) (102), at least one cluster head (CH) (104), a communication scheduler (106), a memory (108) and a processor (110). The sensor nodes (SNs) (102) are configured to generate sensing data. The communication scheduler (106) is configured to organize network operation into a setup phase and a steady state phase. The memory (108) and the processor (110) is configured to execute instructions to initialize the sensor nodes (102) during the setup phase and classify sensor nodes (102) by a classification unit (112). The system is operated in a normal mode for routine data transmission and a priority mode for handling urgent data by operation unit (114). The processor is configured to dynamically switch between normal mode and priority mode.
