MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641084895 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on July 10, 2026, for System And Method For Energy-Aware Optimization Of Data Engineering Pipelines.
Inventors include Dr. V. Sivakumar; Nikkitha S; and Thenmozhi T.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an energy-aware data engineering system and method for optimizing distributed data pipeline execution using real-time environmental intelligence and adaptive orchestration. The system incorporates an Energy-Aware Orchestrator (EAO) configured to monitor energy consumption, carbon intensity, resource utilization, and execution metrics for dynamically controlling pipeline execution strategies. The invention further implements closed-loop feedback optimization to continuously refine scheduling, workload distribution, resource allocation, and runtime execution parameters based on operational outcomes. A multi-objective optimization engine balances energy efficiency, carbon emissions, execution latency, and operational cost while maintaining service-level agreement compliance. The system further enables runtime pipeline reconfiguration without interrupting execution and supports integration with distributed processing frameworks, cloud-native environments, and hybrid infrastructures. The invention transforms conventional static pipelines into autonomous, self-optimizing, and environmentally sustainable data engineering systems for large-scale distributed computing environments.
