Abstract: In modern urban environments, delayed emergency vehicle movement due to traffic congestion often results in critical loss of time and lives. To address this issue, this invention presents a Rapid Emergency Response System based on LoRa (Long Range) and IoT technologies for intelligent traffic management. The proposed system consists of two main units a transmitter unit mounted on the emergency vehicle and a receiver unit installed at the traffic junction. The transmitter, built using an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with a GPS module and a LoRa (SX1278) transmitter, continuously tracks the vehicle’s position and transmits directional commands when approaching a traffic signal within a specified distance. The receiver unit, implemented with an Arduino Mega and LoRa (SX1278) receiver, processes these commands to automatically turn the signal green in the vehicle’s direction while activating an audio alert for nearby drivers. Once the vehicle crosses the signal, the system reverts to normal traffic operation. This wireless communication approach eliminates dependence on traditional GSM networks, offering low latency, long-range connectivity, and high reliability even in network-restricted areas. Experimental results validate that the system ensures efficient and automated traffic clearance for emergency vehicles, significantly reducing response time and improving urban traffic safety.
