Abstract: SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EMBEDDING A WATERMARK IN A DIGITAL IMAGE A method for embedding a watermark in a digital image is disclosed. The method includes receiving a digital image (104) from a user device (102). The method includes generating, by at least one processor (202) of a watermarking system (106), a block processing sequence for a plurality of image blocks based on a secret key and image-specific information associated with the digital image (104). The method further includes determining, for each of the plurality of image blocks, block-specific embedding information based on a block-specific key, the secret key and an identifier associated with the respective image block. The method includes selecting at least one transform-domain coefficient position based on the block-specific embedding information, determining an embedding parameter based on the block-specific embedding information, embedding one or more payload bits into the selected transform-domain coefficient position associated with each of the plurality of image blocks, and generating a watermarked image comprising one or more embedded payload bits.
