MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641100397 A) filed by Gitam Deemed To Be University on August 19, 2026, for System And Method For Electrochemical Point-Of-Care Albumin-To- Creatinine Ratio Measurement Using A Urine Collection Assembly.
Inventors include Titisha Chakraborty; Munmun Das; and Ravi Kishore Bhagavatula.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe a biosensing urine collection system and method for quantitative determination of the urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR). The system incorporates sensing elements within a urine collection container lid, enabling direct assessment of urine samples for non-invasive detection and monitoring. The system comprises a urine collection container and a lid-mounted diagnostic module including screen-printed electrochemical sensing electrodes, a miniaturized potentiostat circuit, a processing unit, and a wireless communication module. The sensing electrodes are configured to immerse into a urine sample upon closure of the lid for direct electrochemical detection of albumin and creatinine. Electrochemical measurements are performed using cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), and chronoamperometry (CA). Generated electrochemical signals are processed to quantify albumin and creatinine concentrations and automatically calculate the urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio. Diagnostic data is transmitted through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and/or Wi-Fi to mobile devices and cloud platforms, enabling rapid, portable, point-of-care urinary ACR monitoring.
