MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621056489 A) filed by Sage University on May 04, 2026, for System And Method For Edge-Based Adaptive Irrigation With Trend-Driven Soil Analysis And Crop-Stage- Aware Soil Health Control.

Inventors include Dr. Prashant Jain; Mis. Savita Rathod; and Dr. Deepak Agrawal.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The present invention is about an irrigation control system and method which is optimized for the purpose of maximizing water usage and improving the condition of soil by adopting the technique of edge-based autonomous control design. The invention consists of multiple sensing devices capable of monitoring different parameters such as soil moisture, conductivity, temperature, and rain sensors. Trend analysis of soil behavior and intelligent crop stage-based logic is used for determining the requirement for irrigation, and the virtual soil health estimator detects nutrient imbalance and poor soil condition. Dynamic irrigation threshold calculation is done by considering the time-varying soil conditions, growth stages of crops, and soil health parameters, thereby avoiding the use of preset thresholds. Closed-loop feedback control is utilized, and dynamic adjustment of the system is possible, along with independent rain sensing that does not require any third-party weather services.
