Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EDGE AI EMBEDDED SMART PATCH FOR EARLY SEPSIS DETECTION USING HEART RATE VARIABILITY AND SKIN TEMPERATURE The present invention discloses an edge AI embedded smart patch designed for early detection of sepsis through continuous monitoring of heart rate variability (HRV) and skin temperature. The system integrates miniaturized sensors, a low power microcontroller, and an embedded artificial intelligence inference engine capable of processing physiological signals locally. HRV data is acquired using photoplethysmography or ECG electrodes, while skin temperature is measured via thermistor or infrared sensors. The signals undergo pre processing and feature extraction, followed by classification using lightweight AI models optimized for edge deployment. Upon identification of abnormal patterns indicative of sepsis onset, the patch generates alerts that are transmitted wirelessly to external devices such as smartphones or hospital monitoring systems. By performing analytics at the edge, the invention reduces latency, enhances privacy, and eliminates dependence on cloud infrastructure. The system is portable, cost effective, and suitable for both hospital and home environments, thereby addressing limitations of existing centralized monitoring solutions. This invention provides a scalable and reliable approach to early sepsis detection, improving patient outcomes through timely clinical intervention.
