MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641075268 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 18, 2026, for System And Method For Early Detection And Severity Assessment Of Cucumber Leaf Diseases Using Attention-Guided Vision.
Inventors include Muthunagai; Kaushik V; and Yellugari Neeraj Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT A system and method for early detection and severity assessment of cucumber leaf diseases using attention-guided vision analysis under field conditions are disclosed. The system comprises an image acquisition module (103) configured to capture cucumber leaf images, an image processing module (104) for illumination normalization and noise reduction, a data augmentation module (105), an attention-guided feature extraction module (106), a disease identification module (107), and a decision module (108). The attention-guided feature extraction module (106) selectively focuses on disease-relevant regions to identify subtle visual abnormalities associated with early disease onset. The disease identification module (107) classifies leaves as healthy (109) or defected (110), while the decision module (108) computes disease severity scores and generates alerts and recommendations (111). The invention provides robust operation under varying field conditions, enables continuous crop monitoring, supports severity-based disease assessment, and facilitates timely intervention for improved crop health management and reduced agricultural losses.
