MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641108526 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 10, 2026, for System And Method For Dynamic Trust-Based Selection Of Serverless Function Instances.

Inventors include P Balakrishnan; Smit Manoj Kothari; and Saha Anubhab.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: A system (104) for trust-based invocation selection in a serverless cloud environment (102) includes a serverless request router (103), a plurality of function instances (105), a memory (110), and a processor (108). The processor (108) receives a function request, identifies available function instances (105) having no currently executing invocation and no pending assignment, and determines a trust score for each available function instance (105) based on execution history. The processor (108) determines an effective selection score by applying a queue-depth penalty to the trust score, selects a function instance (105) having a highest effective selection score, and executes the function request using the selected function instance (105). The processor (108) records an execution outcome including success or failure, execution latency, and cold-start status, and updates the trust score based on the execution outcome for subsequent invocation selection.
