Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DUAL-POINT DISC-BASED RESTRAINT FOR IMMOBILIZING A SUBJECT ALONG LONGITUDINAL AXIS The present disclosure relates to a dual-point disc-based restraint system (100) for immobilizing a subject (102) along a longitudinal axis (104). The system (100) comprises a first disc pair unit (110) positioned at a first axial location (112) and a second disc pair unit (120) positioned at a second axial location (122) spaced from the first disc pair unit (110). Each disc pair unit (110, 120) comprises opposing rigid planar discs (130) mounted on linear guide rails (132) and operatively connected to linear actuation mechanisms (134) configured to translate the rigid planar discs (130) toward and away from the subject (102). Each rigid planar disc (130) includes a compliant contact element (136) having an arch-shaped compressible member 140 with an upper arc (142) attached to the rigid planar disc (130) and a lower arc (144) configured for free deformation against the surface (162) of the subject (102) during restraint. Independent actuation of the disc pair units (110, 120) enables controlled immobilization and passive gap elimination.
