MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621099797 A) filed by Ahmedabad University on August 18, 2026, for System And Method For Determining Journal Equivalence Ratings Using Bibliometric Indicator Mapping.

Inventor includes Adhvaryu, Bhargav.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method (1000) for determining a journal equivalence rating. The method (1000) comprises retrieving, from one or more data repositories (106), a first journal dataset associated with an Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) journal list and a second journal dataset associated with a Scopus journal list. The method (1000) comprises generating a matched journal dataset by correlating the first journal dataset with the second journal dataset, wherein the matched journal dataset is indicative of one or more journals present in both datasets. The method (1000) comprises extracting bibliometric indicator values for each journal in the matched journal dataset, generating percentile bands comprising quartile-based threshold ranges corresponding to rating categories, determining whether a query journal name is present in either dataset, extracting bibliometric indicator values associated with the query journal name, mapping the extracted values to a corresponding percentile band, and determining the journal equivalence rating.
