MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411088963 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on November 18, 2024, for System And Method For Determining A Target Position For A Vehicle During Lane Change Cancellation.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides system 102 and method 600 for determining a target lane for a vehicle. The method 600 includes determining 602 that initiation of a lane change is cancelled during the vehicle moving along a route, forming 604 one or more grids around the vehicle at one or more lanes along the route, and predicting 606 a value of one or more first parameters associated with each of the one or more grids and segregating 608 the one or more grids. Further, the method 600 includes selecting 610 a first grid among the one or more grids at a target lane among the one or more lanes, and enabling 612 the vehicle to move toward the first grid of the target lane. Therefore, the system 102 and the method 600 determine and select a safe target position after lane change cancellations, enhancing driver confidence.
