The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system (1100) to detect surface tracking degradation in high voltage polymeric insulators. The system includes an insulator (406) coupled to a high voltage transformer and an optical fluorescence fiber sensor (1102). The optical fluorescence fiber sensor includes an optical fluorescence fiber (1104) configured to collect an optical emission during one or more stages of discharge of the insulator and generate one or more fluorescence signals based on the optical emission during the one or more stages of discharge. The optical fluorescence fiber sensor (1102) includes a photomultiplier module (1106) including a photodetector. Further, the system (1100) includes a control module (1108) configured to detect one or more temporal variations of the one or more stages of discharge based on one or more signal parameters of the one or more fluorescence signals and to classify the one or more stages of discharge.
