MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641115563 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on September 26, 2026, for System And Method For Detecting Unsafe Conditions In Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure.
Inventors include Ashwin Singh Slathia; Abhiram Sharma; Saksham Anand; Subitha D; and Kavitha J C.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: A system (100) for detecting unsafe conditions in electric vehicle charging infrastructure may include a cable evaluation unit (102) to generate cable-response information associated with a charging cable (206), a thermal plume sensor unit (104) to acquire thermal information associated with at least one charging component, a power-control unit (108) selectively regulate or interrupt delivery of charging power, and a controller (106) communicatively associated with cable evaluation unit (102), thermal plume sensor unit (104), and power-control unit (106), wherein controller (106) to: evaluate cable-response information to detect a cable anomaly associated with charging cable (206); evaluate thermal information to detect a localized thermal anomaly associated with the at least one charging component; determine an unsafe charging condition based on detected cable anomaly, detected localized thermal anomaly, or a correlated evaluation thereof; and control power- control unit (108) to regulate or interrupt delivery of charging power upon determination of unsafe charging condition.
