Abstract: SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING UNAUTHORIZED WASTE DISPOSAL AND MONITORING GARBAGE-VULNERABLE POINTS USING 360° IMAGERY A system for detecting unauthorized waste disposal and monitoring garbage-vulnerable points using 360° imagery is provided. The system (100) includes an imaging device (108) and an edge device (110) mounted on a mobile monitoring unit (102). The imaging device 108 captures media content while a mobile monitoring unit moves. The edge device pre-processes media content and extracts visual features, and analyzes visual features using a computer vision (CV)-based model (112). The CV-based model detects unauthorized disposal by identifying objects and detecting human behaviors within visual features; correlating both outputs spatiotemporally, applying contextual filtering with metadata to determine authorized/unauthorized activity; generating confidence score based on outputs of object detection and action recognition and contextual metadata; classifying dumping activity as authorized/unauthorized waste disposal based on confidence score to generate report. The centralized monitoring unit analyzes reports to trigger alerts, map recurring GVPs, and track long-term dumping patterns upon receiving a report. FIG. 1
