MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611059501 A) filed by Chandigarh University on May 09, 2026, for System And Method For Detecting Child Usage Of Mobile Devices And Restricting Access.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for automatically detecting usage of a parent’s mobile device and by a child dynamically restricting access to device resources in real time. Touchscreen interaction sequences generated during clicking, sliding, or gesture operations are continuously analyzed to extract behavioral parameters including, but not limited to, touch duration, contact area, finger width estimation, gesture velocity, trajectory characteristics, and inter-touch timing. These parameters are processed by an on-device behavioral classification model to determine whether the current user is a child, without requiring user collaboration, manual mode switching, cameras, or additional hardware. Upon detection of child usage, predefined parental control policies are automatically enforced at the operating system level, including restriction of internet connectivity and access to selected applications, and are seamlessly revoked when adult usage is detected through continuous authentication.
