MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641113474 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on September 22, 2026, for System And Method For Detecting And Mitigating Fire In A Vehicle Carrying Garbage.
Inventors include Sai Prashanth Ramesh; R. Subacharan; and D Kavitha.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: A system 100 to detect and mitigate fire in a garbage chamber 202 of garbage vehicle 200 includes a plurality of temperature sensors 102-A, gas and smoke monitoring sensor 102-B configured in the garbage chamber 202; a mist nozzle 206 configured in garbage chamber 202 to deliver water mist upon fire detection; and a microcontroller 104 in communication with the sensors 102, including at least one database, one or more processors to receive real-time signal inputs from sensors 102 detecting temperature, smoke and one or more gases released from the garbage; perform multisensory fusion to compute key parameters responsible for fire; process signals to compute fire risk score employing adaptive machine learning hazard interpretation models and updating continuously; classify conditions based on fire risk score to operate water mist nozzles 206 to mitigate fire; and generate alert notification 124 using audio and dashboard 126 video to log 128 and indicating real-time hazard to operator.
