MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641093070 A) filed by Infineal Private Limited on July 31, 2026, for System And Method For Cross-Layer Adaptive Modulation And Coding In Qos-Based Satellite Downlink Communication.
Inventors include Govindassamy, Sivakumar; Anandha Vadivel S; and Saeed Jawad R.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: A satellite on-board communication system (100) for cross-layer adaptive modulation and coding in satellite downlink communication includes a quality-of-service classification engine (102) at an application layer configured to identify application-specific quality-of-service requirements and recommend modulation and coding schemes, a memory (104) configured to store a pool of modulation and coding schemes classified according to quality-of-service requirements, a channel monitor (106) at a physical layer configured to measure channel conditions and determine a link margin, and an on-board control core (108) configured to select a modulation and coding scheme from the pool based on both the quality-of-service requirements and the link margin. The on-board control core (108) prioritizes selection from the pool when channel quality varies and departs from the pool only when the link margin is below a threshold, to avoid link outage and maintain tracking continuity.
