MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641113063 A) filed by Flo Mobility Private Limited on September 21, 2026, for System And Method For Controlling Mobile Robot Having Passively Articulated Joint.
Inventors include Gautham Ramkumar; Manoj Manohar Karnekar; Manesh Jain; Ashok Dhakar; and Pratik Patel.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: A system (102) and method (200) for controlling a mobile robot (104) having first body (106) and second body (108) coupled through passive articulation joint (110) that is unencoded and unactuated and free of steering-angle sensor. The system (102) receives first sensor data from first body (106), second sensor data from second body (108), and ranging data from second body (108). A state estimation unit (124) determines first and second body headings without using steering-angle sensor or magnetometer and determines articulation state based on difference between first body heading and second body heading. A perception unit (126) generates obstacle representation in fixed reference frame using second body heading. A predictive control unit (128) initializes articulated predictive motion model (130) using articulation state at successive control cycles, generates and evaluates candidate motion trajectories with respect to obstacle representation, and provides motion command through motion control interface (132).
