Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system 102 and a method 300 for controlling a locking mechanism associated with a safety restraint. The method 300 includes determining 302 whether an ignition of a vehicle is in an ON state or an OFF state and determining 304 whether the safety restraint is enabled or disabled. Further, in response to determining that the ignition is in the ON state and the safety restraint is enabled, the method 300 includes activating 306A the locking mechanism. Further, in response to determining that the ignition is in the OFF state and the safety restraint is disabled, the method 300 includes deactivating 306B the locking mechanism. Therefore, the present disclosure overcomes the operational and safety drawbacks of existing systems by automatically controlling the locking mechanism based on the ignition state and safety restraint settings, thereby reducing the risk of accidental tampering.
