Abstract: The present invention relates to a system (100) for controlled particle morphology engineering. The system comprises a chamber (102) configured to contain a particle formation medium comprising one material capable of undergoing crystallisation, precipitation, and phase transformation and a thermal control element (104) arranged to generate one spatially variable temperature field across a portion of the particle formation medium. The system further comprises a controller (106) operatively connected to the thermal control element (104) and configured to dynamically modulate one thermal parameter selected from gradient magnitude, gradient direction, spatial distribution, and temporal profile. Moreover, the system (100) is configured to control one particle morphological property selected from particle shape, aspect ratio, crystal habit, surface structure, and size distribution by imposing spatially variable temperature field during particle formation.
