Abstract: System and Method for Constraint-Based Electromyographic Signal Regulation for Neuromuscular Effort Minimization A system and method for constraint-based control of electromyographic (EMG) signals for minimizing neuromuscular effort are disclosed. The system acquires EMG signals from a user, digitizes the signals, and normalizes them with respect to a maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) value to generate a normalized signal representing relative muscle activation. A control module establishes a dual-bound signal window defined by lower and upper boundaries and regulates the normalized signal such that control output is generated only when the signal remains within the bounded window. The system constrains both under-activation and over-activation to enforce operation within a minimum effective signal range. The signal window is dynamically adjusted by progressively reducing its range and shifting toward lower signal amplitudes based on user performance. The system further supports real-time biofeedback and wireless transmission for efficient human–machine control.
