Abstract: ABSTRACT System and Method for Condition-Based Control of Electric-Vehicle Battery Charging The present disclosure relates to a system and method for condition-based control of battery charging for an electric vehicle. The system includes: a plurality of battery sections; a multi-domain sensing module; independently controllable power conversion paths; a thermal-management module; a diagnostic perturbation module; and a processor. The sensing module collects synchronised electrical, thermal and impedance related parameters including section-wise voltage, charging current, temperature distribution, temperature gradient, state-of-charge and state-of-health. The processor generates electro-thermal stress maps on a section-by-section basis, identifies localised charging conditions, calculates section-wise charging-stress budgets, and constructs a dynamic charging envelope. The charging power is selectively controlled in dependence on the determined conditions and redistributed to the battery sections by the independently controllable power-conversion paths. The electrical perturbation can be employed in a controlled manner for diagnostic purposes. Thermal management is synchronised with charging control. Subsequent battery response is verified to maintain, modify, reduce, redistribute or restore charging power while maintaining prescribed battery operating and safety limits.
