Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COMPACTING PLASTIC WASTE The present disclosure relates to a system and method for compacting plastic waste. The system (100) comprising a hollow cylindrical collector (102) for receiving plastic waste, a compression assembly (104) reciprocably disposed within the collector (102), and a plurality of indexing notches (106) formed along the collector (102). A compression lid (108) is coupled to the compression assembly (104) and includes engagement members configured to selectively engage the indexing notches (106) to permit incremental movement and locking. The system further comprises a gravity-assisted compression member (110) including a weighted rod slidably guided within the compression assembly (104) to apply a continuous axial compressive force, and a bottom discharge assembly (112) for removal of compressed plastic waste, wherein cooperation of the weighted rod and the engagement members enables step-wise compression of the plastic waste.
