MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641057093 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on May 05, 2026, for System And Method For Classification Of Biological Tissue Based On Photoacoustic Spectral Signatures.
Inventors include Krishna Kishore Mahato; and Shimul Biswas.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a system (100) and method (300) for classification of biological tissue based on photoacoustic spectral signatures. The system (100) may include a photoacoustic signal acquisition unit (102), a signal conditioning unit (104), a processor (120) and a memory (130). The photoacoustic signal acquisition unit (102) is configured to receive biological tissue samples and generate photoacoustic signals in response to optical excitation. The memory (130) stores instructions which when executed by the processors (120) cause the system (100) to transform preprocessed signals from a time domain to a frequency domain by a transformation unit (106). Spectral features are extracted from the transformed signals by a feature extraction unit (108). A subset of informative features is selected based on relevance and redundancy criteria by a feature selection unit (110). The biological tissue is classified into one or more tissue types by a classification unit (112).
